In Exodus 3, The Lord has overviewed for Moses how He plans to free the Israelites from their Egyptian bondage. This presentation was made through the medium of a burning bush...pretty good audio/visual!!
In chapter 4, Moses begins his response with "What IF, and....." followed by several possible negative outcomes. The Lord responds, clarifies, explains, and instructs thoroughly.
Moses' questions are difficult for him to get resolved...even while chatting with a flaming shrub!! "What IF?" can be a paralyzing question, when followed by negative possibilities.
A more challenging, motivating use can be "What IF I DON'T do this? What IF I don't step up, step out?"
